Paws While You Heal was founded by Michele DiFormato, a dedicated Registered Nurse with many years of experience caring for patients in the emergency department. Throughout her nursing career, Michele has witnessed firsthand how quickly life can change. She has cared for countless patients facing unexpected illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies—many of whom shared the same concern before anything else:
“Who’s going to take care of my pets?”
As both an experienced emergency nurse and an avid animal lover, Michele understood that this worry could add unnecessary stress during an already overwhelming time. She knew there had to be a way to help patients focus on what truly mattered—their health—without having to worry about the beloved pets waiting for them at home.
Inspired by her passion for compassionate patient care and her lifelong love of dogs, Michele created Paws While You Heal to provide a simple solution during life’s unexpected moments. Our mission is to connect patients with trusted pet care providers who can step in when medical emergencies arise, giving families peace of mind while they receive the care they need.
When she’s not caring for patients or growing this mission, Michele enjoys spending time with her two beloved Great Pyrenees, Harrison and Franklin, who remind her every day just how important the bond between people and their pets truly is. They have been the heart behind this vision and the inspiration for creating a service that ensures no one has to choose between seeking medical care and worrying about the well-being of their furry family members.
